Remember the bike rack outside your school?
The bike rack outside your elementary school was there day in and
day out. You rode your bike to your school nearly every day, even
when it was raining. You only lived a few blocks from the school,
so your mom and dad didnt mind letting you ride your bike
as long as you promised to lock it up in the bike rack. That bike
rack was always there, and even now when you see a bike rack youre
transported to those simpler days.
That cool metal of the bike rack heated up quickly in the sun,
so when you came out to get your bike from the line of hot bikes
in the bike rack you almost burned your hand when you touched it.
But the bike rack would never burn you. It was always there for
you, keeping your bike safe along with all of your friends
sport bikes. It was as sturdy as a bike rack could be solid
tubular metal that would never give over to a bike thiefs
bolt cutters.
It seemed like the bike rack was almost alive, like it loved having
those lines of hot bikes and sport bikes chained to it. It always
looked so empty in the summer when everyone was at home, but that
bike rack also almost seemed to be grinning. It wanted its friends
back. The bike rack just wanted those hot bikes lined up at it again,
because that meant it had company.
