Specialized bicycles

Like wine, cheese, and everything great, Specialized bicycles improve with age

I’m positive there are several Specialized bicycles sitting in my garage right now. The deep black Specialized bicycles my little brothers used to zoom around the city, pretending they were sport bikes and could vault whatever they wanted. It drove my dad bonkers, running after them on those Specialized bicycles, yelling at them to ride away from the ramps down the road and to quit riding their Specialized bicycles through the cornfields across the street.

My Specialized bicycles were always bright pink. I was never a frilly lacy-girl, but that bright pink on the Specialized bicycles was mouth-watering for me. It got you recognized. It got people looking. It was the best color for any Specialized bicycles, but especially for a girl. My dad loved to get bike kits and customize bikes – he tried a bunch of times to get me to ride one of the bikes he’d built. He even painted those bike kits in every shade of blue since he knew it was my favorite color. But it didn’t mean a thing, because they weren’t Specialized bicycles.

Specialized bicycles were what I wanted, and I wanted them in bright pink. It didn’t matter that I loved blue. They may not have been high-end premium sport bikes, but my Specialized bicycles were all I wanted. I just needed to get out of the house, feel a little independent, get out on my own for just a couple of hours. My Specialized bicycles gave me all of those things.
